Try plugging the secondary disk into the other power lead coming from the
PSU.
You probably consumed too much power on the primary line, causing other
components to fail. I've had an SMP system in the past that would do this
from time to time, and I noticed that it only happened when I used the
cdrom drive. I moved the cdrom drive to the other power lead, and it never
happened again.
