[Mailinglist] Please help(plip issue)

Hi,
I have a weird issue with the plip driver.  I need to
test the parport of a machine so am using plip.  

I do a modprobe plip on both machines. and assign ip's
with ifconfig.

>ifconfig plip0 192.168.0.3 pointopoint 192.168.0.4
#on testmachine

>ifconfig plip0 192.168.0.4 pointopoint 192.168.0.3
#on remote machine.

then I do a ping from either machine.  And ping works
fine.

The problem is when I do a ifconfig plip0 down on any
one machine.  After I down the plip0 interface and
then do an ifconfig plip0 up, the ping mails.  

I searched google for known issues with plip but
did'nt come up with anything.  I even did a rmmod of
the plip modules on both machines and then
reconfigured by modprobing and ifconfig, but still my
ping will fail.

The only way I can ping is to reboot one of the
machines and inserting the plip module and assinging
ip's as mentioned before.

Is this a known issue.  Any help and or suggestions
would be helpfull.
