Hi Britto,
There are a bunch of max count values for redhat linux regarding IP these values are all available under "/etc/sysctl.conf" file in RH Linux. also it can be initially verified by just enabling the required value in to the proc file system( This requires the knowledge of the parameters so iam not giving it here) how ever the /etc/sysctl is alot more documented and commented in the file itself.
as for the second problem if the device gets detected as SDD then it should be visible completely , see if it is mounted properly . Try to upgrade to the latest GNOME or KDE as both are now capable of plug and play functionality with the latest 2.6 kernels
Regards
Peter Paul

Subject: [Mailinglist] Operation not permitted
Title: Ping operation not permitted
I have a rh9 linux box with nic. I tried to ping from this machine. It is showing operation not permitted. Earlier the same problem I rectified by increasing some IP max count value
I am trying to ping from this machine.
There is another problem also.
Whenever I attachs an USB it shows I/O error.
Firewall I turned off using iptables -F.
When I connects USB dmesg shows that it is detecting at sdd1.
Due to this ping problem ftp is not working. I have also tried ssh, that too not working on this machine. I do not get any replies. These issues will be resolved if my ping issue is solved.
I've forgotten the file where I needs to change the value.
There are no firewalls running now.
How to mount an USB in this situation ?
Unable to mount USB also.
Any help would be GREATLY appriciated.
Thanks
Britto
