 Some Basic Reasons.
1) Customization to the maximum
2) Cost Effectiveness (Can avoid Licensing issues)
3) Lakhs of enthusiast to help you
4) No need to wait for a third party release a patch to save your system 
5) Saves lot of hardware cost (Can fine tune for your need- May be, you know better than me,  i'm still a newbie to Linux world)
6) Much better security stack.
7) Scalability
