Details ::

Introduction to Free Software and GNU Movement.
Discussion on Free Software Licenses, Open Source Software.

We start of with our regular discussion on Free Software and related
topics. This is important for new users.

Agenda : Converting Kerala to Free Software

Taking forward the discussions on the Mailing List, we will formulate
certain action items through serious brainstorming. The discussion
will be of top priority and not limited.

Community Based Curriculum and TextBooks

The community based curriculum concept initiated by the
Free Software Community will be taken forward by ILUG
Cochin as a separate activity, just like all the other activities.

We reach a conclusion de-linking this initiative from the regular
meetings.

We also chart out the future action plan and populate the wiki
(www.communitybasedcurriculum.wikia.com)

- We will also round up on our campaign for bringing teachers closer
to the Swathanthra Software community. We will highlight the
achievements.

- Discussion on Swathanthra Software Sangamam.

Technical Presentation:  Package Management on GNU/Linux by Kevin Sha

With the vast ocean of Free Software available, package management is
a very important aspect of Free Software. We will cover some basic ideas
relating to package management by learning the basics of Debian GNU/Linux
package management.

- What is a Software package ?
- What is the need for package management
- Debian Package Management System
- dpkg tool
- apt Frontend
- Synaptic, Aptitude, Other Frontends
- Package Management in Other Distributions and OS.

We hope more people from the community will make it to the meeting.
