I believe the term "copy" is wrong. It is ripping a VCD. Also there is a
problem of mismatching the sound and picture when I use mencoder as
specified in the link.
I have a better script. You can rip with the playing tool itself.
$mplayer vcd://<track no:> -dumpstream -dumpfile filename.mpg
This works for ripping VCD as well as DVD.
However this method doesn't work well for audio cd's. I have used
$mplayer cdda://<track no:> -dumpstream -dumpfile filename.wav
So I use ripit. Just put the audio cd and type $ripit. It will rip
all the audio tracks to the current directory.
However, all of these methods doesn't work for a copy-protected DVD,VCD
and Audio CD. I believe there is no standard method to break the
hand-cuffs. The only way to avoid this is to check the copy-protected
symbol on the back side of the cover, before buying the record and
reject it.
For Example, see the copy-protected symbol on the cover of the nice
Romantic-Comedy "The Holiday".

The quote on the top of the cover says "Heartwarming". I think it
it is the copy-protection that is Heartwarming and not the movie. :-)
