Free Software Foundation never took a stand on this issue yet.

Free Software User Group TVM issued a Press release 3 days back
condemning the intelligence move to ban mapping party's (Google /Open
streetmap) and bringing the need of Govt support for Free Knowledge
projects like Openstreetmap by releasing their data . But as  a part
of media sensationalism it is misreported in mathrubhumi as  (Free
Software Movementis against mapping party)

Now they are misquoting it again

Please note- FSUG-TVM clearly stated that Mapping Parties are part of
Freedom Of Expression guaranteed by the constitution.
